Matcha is a Japanese green tea powder made from finely powdered dried tea leaves. It has a slightly bitter, vegetal taste and a vibrant green color.
Matcha is made by:
- Harvesting young green tea leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant
- Milling the leaves into a superfine, vibrant green powder
- Keeping the plants in the shade for much of the time, which boosts the plant’s chlorophyll and amino acids
Matcha is traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony. It’s best when mixed with milk or soy milk for an instant green tea beverage.

The same caffeine kick as Starbucks, but without the bitterness. Love the individual packets.

My boxed packets all arrived as described and pictured when I ordered, all dated Dec 2021 – but I use out of date instant without qualms anyway. What else I like lots: These, like a couple other favorites, do mix readily with room-temperature water, so I can pour a stronger batch over ice, a favorite way to imbibe these days.

I purchased this for my preps and low and behold I needed it during the Texas winter storms. I use the ground version on an every day basis and this did not disappoint! I was even able to add it to cold milk for a great iced coffee drink.
